It's clearly "the season" for End-to-End ride planning . . .  hits on the website have soared in the last three or four weeks to around 500 a day and growing.

Don't forget there's now a Forum where you can discuss the ride/ask questions/seek advice etc - see the link over on the left.

I'm still working on ideas for the site ... if you have any thoughts for content or improvements please e-mail me at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Starting to get into organisation mode now and trying to book railway tickets from Birmingham to Penzance, and then from Inverness to Birmingham via a stop-over in Edinburgh - the process is horrendous with the National Rail website appearing to be totally inconsistent with journey possibilities.

The account of Rob (the webmaster) and Jon's French End to End is now available.  The book has a foreword by Edward Enfield, author of Downhill All The Way, the inspiration for the trip.

The 200+ page book comprises day-by-day accounts of the ride together with photographs and a 44 page fully detailed route map. The CD also contains an A5 landscape version of the marked map to print and use on the road.

A series of 9 video clips are now online - filmed from the handlebars and showing John's JOGLE in 2009, Journal No 530  [Go to Journals/JOGLE/John's JOGLE and the link is their "JOURNAL"]

Just a quick report that the site is alive and kicking, although progress has slowed on transferring the old Ultimate List reports to the Journal Library (Rob the webmaster has holidays to take and a bike to ride you know!) ... as the summer fades more time will be devoted to getting everything in order.

The areas that are up-to-date are the list of rides and new Journals ... don't forget to send yours!

Help!

Is anyone out there a graphic designer that can help with the header on the site?

I've got lots of ideas and can do all the editorial and technical web stuff, but I'm no designer.  The heading on the site is a "quick and dirty" montage of photographs to get the site going . . . I would really like something rather smarter and more professional looking.

If you can help then please e-mail   This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.   (sorry, there's no money involved, but a designer would of course get a mention and link on the site)

Rob, the webmaster for this site, was at Carlisle Station on Thursday 25 June 2009 (waiting for a train home from riding the Reivers Route with the cycling club) and spotted two guys with a bicycle and a problem

They were from this [DEAD LINK]  - one sporting a very Pringled rear wheel with about 5 broken spokes - they had been forced to get a taxi from near Gretna to Carlisle to find a bike shop.

Even more of a coincidence was that while chatting about their ride so far they mentioned a B&B at Tarbet .... and referred to it as " ... the one with the crunchy towels, if you have read Rob & Joe's JOGLE ..."  not realising that Rob the webmaster was the same Rob!

Rob the webmaster has been busy and progress to transfer The BIG List has slowed . . . but submitted rides and new journals have been added to the site.  Hopefully you like what you see - please let us know (either way)

Off on a short cycle tour to the NE of England for 5 days so not a lot will happen on the site until 28 June 2009 .... keep sending the ride details!
